Matt Smith

Matt has nearly 2 decades experience advising founders, funds, banks, boards, and investors with a focus on corporate, M&A, Venture Capital, Private Equity, and Capital Markets transactions. Prior to joining JonesSpross, Matt was Associate General Counsel for Solera Holdings, VP and Counsel of D.E. Shaw & Co., and Counsel in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs.

Matt also has experience as a Corporate and non-profit Board member, a VC Fund Board member, and as Visiting Assistant Professor at Peking University’s School of Transnational Law. Matt received his law degree from Columbia Law School, where he was a Stone Scholar, and he received his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
